In the area Within 5 minutes you can walk to the local town which has restaurants and bars and a mini-market. A shuttle service operates between the resort and the nearby beaches, and also to Lecce. The town of Lecce - dubbed "Florence of the Baroque" is a great place to go for an evening meal, and explore the streets through the historic centre. There are often live concerts in the main piazza and a shuttle bus will take you there and collect you after your meal. Within half an hour's drive you will find Otranto on the south east coast. The city was probably founded by Greek colonists from the island of Crete. Explore the pretty streets and stop for an aperitif or meal on the restaurants along the harbour walls. On the other side of the Lecce peninsula and also within half an hour is the historic town of Gallipoli n the south west coast. The town is home to some of the best fish restaurants in the area - especially at the harbour where the fish are landed each day so you know you can choose from the freshest catch. |
